The State of California requires by law to install a backflow preventer in any situation where incoming water and waste water have a chance of being cross-connected. This serves to protect you and your home, keeping your drinking, bathing, and cleaning water safe. Backflow preventers shall be tested at least annually or more frequently if determined to be necessary by the health agency or water supplier. This testing must be done by a licensed professional plumber who has received additional training in backflow prevention testing.
